- San Diego Unified has e-books you can read!
- For San Diego Unified's e-book check out, go to CLEVER.COM, then click LOGIN WITH ACTIVE DIRECTORY. Then have your student login with THEIR STUDENT LOGIN AND PASSWORD.
- if your student does not know their login/password, please get it from their teacher before the end of the school year.
- Once you're in Clever, follow this video on checking out e-books. https://youtu.be/Nuvgc0eJC38
- You can open the book to browse, but if you want to read it, check it out. The system will automatically check it back in when it is due.
- Also in Clever, right next to Destiny is NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS, which has videos, pictures, books, and several years of National Geographic Kids Magazines. (easiest is to click 'Browse Magazines' once you're in National Geographic)
- For San Diego Unified's e-book check out, go to CLEVER.COM, then click LOGIN WITH ACTIVE DIRECTORY. Then have your student login with THEIR STUDENT LOGIN AND PASSWORD.
- The San Diego Public Library has e-books and paper books to read:
- You can register for a FREE, 30-DAY account at the San Diego Public Library HERE & you'll be allowed to access E-BOOKS & BOOK DATABASES (click the '+' by Books & Literature) for 30 days.
- After 30 days, you will need to visit a San Diego Library to convert the cart to a permanent one. Picture ID with correct address OR Picture ID AND correct address information required.
- The 2 closest branches to Doyle are North University Community (2 miles away) AND University Community, (2 miles away), but there are locations ALL over San Diego. Central in Downtown has FREE 2 hour parking on non-event days (click Central and then Parking for details).
- They also have a free Summer Reading Program that comes with programs, events, and prizes. In the past prizes have been free kids meals and museum passes (prizes need to be picked up in person). Reading program registration starts June 1st.
- They have a TON of virtual and in-person programs for all ages all summer long. Some require registration, but all are free.
- DID YOU KNOW? If the branch library you visit doesn't have the book you want, the San Diego Public Library will allow you to put books on hold, either in person or through their website. They will send them to the branch you'd like to pick them up at, email you when they arrive, and then you can go in and check them out.
- Not only does the public library have books, but the San Diego Public Library also has LOTS of free virtual and in-person STEAM programs with LIBRARY NEXT STEAM PROGRAMS AND VIRTUAL HUB!
- They have passes you can check out to be able to enter California State Parks for FREE!
- You Visit attractions for FREE with the San Diego Public Library's Discover & Go program. The program offers family day passes to several of San Diego's biggest attractions, Passes can be reserved online, in-person or over the phone with a valid library card.
